We’re a day away from the end of June and the heart of Summer. The weather is consistently muggy and occasionally sunny, which is fine by me, though I certainly miss the California sunshine. Hard to believe it’s nearly the halfway point of the year. As far as apocalyptic years go, 2012 is pretty kick ass so far. Hard to imagine it getting any better, but there’s still plenty of time to explore South Korea and I’ve got my reunion with Sacramento coming up in August, which I’m also looking forward to. 

As for the present-tense, Jenny and I try to conserve money by taking walks instead of trips. I am busier now, gaining experience crucial for my Masters, though I’m not supposed to to say too much about that. I am also busy editing my book, which feels fantastic, and I can’t wait to share it when this draft is done. I am addicted to instant iced-coffee, as well as kimbap. I am consistently amazed by the subway system here. Every street looks like a photograph that needs to be taken. Like a true Korean, I sometimes wear socks with my flip-flops. I can go to the market by myself with confidence, though I still only know a handful of Korean words. I am slowly acclimating to the spicier local foods. Everything is delicious. I love the energy of downtown Daegu and the way the city glows neon at night.

I am hoping for my Superdorm deposit to come back to me soon, since that will be the buffer I need to financially survive the coming month.
